Where Our Paths Meet: A mystery quilt for 2026
Welcome to Where Our Paths Meet, the 2026 mystery quilt from Creative Pathways. Each section of this mystery quilt will slowly reveal itself, piece by piece. It’s a journey through color, texture, and design, where the fun is in discovering what comes next.
This quilt will be made over the next 10 months. I’ll release the clues on the third Wednesday of the month (after January), so Feb. 18, Mar. 18, Apr. 15, May 20, June 17, July 15, Aug. 19, Sept. 16, and Oct. 21. Most of the time, the clues will be released by noon. Mark your calendar! When you buy the pattern, the clues will be caught up as of the date you purchased. If you’ve already bought it, you’ll receive an email update.
The quilt is approximately 96 x 96 without borders.
Materials needed (extra yardage is built into these amounts):
Light (this will be a pop, but keep it light): 3/4 yard.
Medium-light (this will be your background and should be either tonal or a subtle pattern): 4.5 yards.
Medium-dark (again, a tonal or subtle pattern is good here): 2 yards.
Dark (again, a tonal or subtle pattern is good here): 3.5 yards.
I’m using four shades of a blue-green batik for these fabrics, but you can use different colors. Value matters the most.
Focal (needs to contrast with everything else): I used 36 colors here, which was either 36 fat eights, quarter yards, or fat quarters. Fat eights are obviously the most economic, but I’m guessing you have a bunch of fat quarters in your stash! Allow room for a wee bit of fussy cutting if you so desire. If you want to make life simple, with just one fabric for the focal, you’ll need 3.25 yards. I used prints for mine, in various colors that looked good against my blue-greens.
Tools needed: Along with normal quilting supplies and a machine, you should have a Creative Grids Flying Geese Ruler. These are available from many independent retailers.
The price is a one-time fee for the entire pattern!
